Keeping Track of Complicated Patterns (from the July 2017 Newsletter)

When you have a pattern with any kind of design that repeats (as in an Aran sweater)

  • Write out each row on an index card and just flip it to the next card when you finish a row.

  • Then put a rubber band around all the cards when you stop knitting so that you automatically know what to do when you pick up the knitting again.

  • Many stores now carry index cards on a spiral backing.

  • If you use a paperclip, you can sometimes get the cards to stand in teepee fashion to make reading easier.
