Guild History

September 1985

The first meeting was held.

November 1985

The first newsletter was published.

July 1986

The Guild logo was first used.

September 1986

Initial 30 person membership had grown to 100 members and the first directory was distributed.

January 1987

The Guild Library was established.

November 1987

The first library exhibit was displayed at the Thornhill Branch of the St. Louis County Library.  A picture of this display appeared in the Post-Dispatch and inspired dozens of calls inquiring about the Guild.

1990

The first local workshop, taught by Guild members, was held.

1994

The Guild website was launched.

Spring 1994

The first visiting teacher workshop was held with instructor Sandra Beadle.

May 2004

Our first knitters' retreat was held at Cedar Creek Conference Center, New Haven, MO.

February 2008

Ravelry group established:  Greater St Louis Knitters' Guild Ravelry Group.

March 2010

PayPal was set up as an option for paying dues.

May 2010

The Guild was granted Not for Profit status.

October 2021
